B.Sc. Nursing

Admission requirements:

  • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on or before 31/12 of the year of admission (as per University norms)
  • The minimum educational requirement shall be successful completion of higher secondary certificate examination (12 years course), or senior school certificate examination (10+2), pre degree examination (10+2) or an equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (as per INC norms)
  • Candidate shall be medically fit

Duration

Duration of program shall be 4 years /8 Semester

Scheme of examination

Candidate should have 80% attendance for theory and practical, with minimum 50% of internal marks in each subject in theory and practical. However 100% of attendance is a must for practical before the award of degree

Theory

Periodic written examination shall be conducted throughout the year (minimum three in a year) for each subject of university examination. Marks of evaluation by other methods like assignments, seminars, projects etc shall be added to the internal marks.

Practical

Continuous clinical evaluation during the clinical experience of the students in specific clinical area is evaluated for the internal marks. Marks of evaluation by other methods like assignments (nursing care study, clinical presentation, planned health teaching program, drug file, projects) can be added to the internal marks.

P.B.B.Sc. Nursing

  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
  • Registration under the State Nursing Council
  • Pass in Pre University Exam or +2 with Science subjects
  • Candidate shall be medically fit

Duration of the program shall be 2 years.

M.Sc. Nursing

Admission requirement

  • The candidate should be a registered nurse and registered midwife with Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council
  • The minimum educational requirement shall be passing of regular degree course in Nursing (B. Sc Nursing/B. Sc (Hons), Nursing/ Post Basic B. Sc Nursing) with minimum 55% aggregate marks, from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing council
  • Minimum one year experience after Basic B. Sc Nursing. One year compulsory nursing service/ internship after successful completion of four year B. Sc Nursing can be considered as experience
  • Minimum one year of experience prior or after regular Post Basic B. Sc Nursing
  • Candidate shall be medically fit
  • Relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidates may be given as per state government norms

Duration of the program shall be 2 years.

However 100% of attendance is a must for practical before the award of degree. The candidate should have completed the training period before commencement of examination.

The concerned department may conduct test or internal assessment before the final examination. Three sessional examinations shall be conducted. The marks obtained in the test, seminar, assignments will be counted for internal assessment. Every candidate pursuing M. Sc Nursing course is required to carry out a selected research project under the guidance of a recognized postgraduate teacher.
